Blabla Capture Privacy Policy
This policy applies to the Blabla Capture browser extension and explains how it processes data to capture web content. It does not cover other features of the Blabla desktop application or third-party websites you visit.
Information the extension processes
The extension runs content scripts on supported pages to respond to toolbar and context-menu capture actions. When you open the capture panel, it extracts page text and image and video candidates within your browser for you to preview and select. Context-menu actions may temporarily record information about the media you point to.
When you save, the extension processes your selected text, media files or media links, together with associated page titles, source URLs, canonical URLs, icons, page metadata, and capture timestamps. Source URLs may include the page's existing query parameters. Before saving, check that the content and source information are appropriate for your library.
Where data goes and how it is used
- The extension connects to Blabla through a local loopback address (127.0.0.1) to read available save locations and send selected content and source information to the Blabla desktop application on the same device for import.
- Retrieving media sends requests to the original website or its media servers. These services receive ordinary network request information, such as your IP address. Some requests may use your browser's existing signed-in session. The extension does not read or collect account passwords.
- The extension does not upload captured content to the developer's servers, include advertising or usage analytics services, or collect your complete browsing history. The “Web history” disclosure in the Chrome Web Store refers to page source information saved with your captures.
Why permissions are needed
- Active tab: identify the page you choose to interact with and open the capture panel.
- Context menus: provide capture actions for pages and media.
- Downloads: temporarily download larger media files to your device for desktop import. After successful import, the extension cleans up the temporary files and download records it created.
- Website access: identify capture content on HTTP/HTTPS pages and their frames, retrieve selected media from its original address, and connect to Blabla on your device.
Storage, deletion, and your choices
You can deselect items, close the capture panel, or choose not to save. Imported content is managed by the Blabla desktop application and can be deleted there. Closing the panel ends that panel's selection session. Uninstalling the extension does not automatically delete previously imported content. Failed or interrupted imports may leave temporary download files, which you can delete from your device.
Limits on data use
The extension processes data only to provide the capture functionality described above. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising, profiling, credit assessments, or purposes unrelated to capture. Blabla Capture's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
