Blabla Privacy Policy
Your material belongs to you. Blabla runs on your computer, and your files, notes and canvases stay in the library folder you choose. We can't see them.
At a glance
- No account.
- Blabla never uploads your files, file names or notes.
- No advertising, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
Data that helps us improve Blabla
To see whether Blabla works well, the app sends a small amount of information. It is not linked to your identity.
- Usage: a randomly generated install ID, app version, platform and processor type, session length and the number of items in your library.
- Error reports: the name of the feature that failed and an error description with file paths removed. Stack traces stay on your computer.
Your choice
Starting with Blabla 0.1.21, you can stop sending usage data at any time in Settings › About › Share usage data. When it is off, Blabla sends neither usage statistics nor error reports.
When Blabla connects to the internet
- Updates: Blabla checks blabla-updates.blabla.md shortly after launch and then every hour. As with any web request, the server sees your IP address, app version and platform. Updates download only after you agree.
- Web content you add: playing a saved YouTube video loads YouTube's player, dropping a web file into Blabla downloads it from its address, and thumbnails for saved links are fetched from their source.
- Plugins: installing a plugin from a link downloads that repository with Git from the host you entered.
Third-party plugins
Plugins you install from other authors run with network access and can read your library. How they handle data is up to their authors and is not covered by this policy. Only install plugins you trust.
Browser extension
Blabla Capture sends the pages and media you choose only to the Blabla app on your own computer.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll publish the new version on this page with a new effective date.
